Who are we and what do we do?
We are an MOT, Car Servicing & Repair comparison website whose aim is to provide motorists with a clearer and more transparent picture of the costs and availability of fixed priced servicing, repairs, and MOTs in their local area.
Are there any costs or fees for using the service?
There are absolutely no costs or fees for motorists or consumers to use our comparison site.
How do I cancel a booking? What if I have any queries about my booking?
To cancel a booking or discuss anything about the booking, please call the garage direct and discuss it with them. The details of the garage were sent to you when you requested a booking and the garage will have your details.
What is the Customer (Star) Rating?
We think it is important for consumers to be able to share their experiences of using the garages we list. So we display independent consumer feedback to help you make your choice. When you book and use a garage, you will be invited to review the garage, and this will be added to its Star Rating. You can rate the garage against four criteria (overall value for money, the helpfulness of their staff, the quality of their work, and how well you were kept informed while they were working on your car). These scores also contribute to their overall Star Rating.
What is the (Spanner) Rating?
We know that whilst cost is important, just finding the cheapest car service isn't the only consideration. Our Spanner Rating system looks at a number of factors in order to arrive at the indicated rating. These factors include whether a garage has diagnostic equipment, whether there are master technicians available, and also if the garage is a member of recognised trade bodies working under a customer charter. Each garage is then scored against these criteria in order to arrive at the overall Spanner Rating which is displayed on the comparison results.
What do the £ signs indicate on the comparison results table?
All participating garages provide us with their labour rates for additional work, should that be required. These labour rates fall within price bands that we have defined, which gives us the ability to demonstrate how expensive additional work may be. The greater the number of pound signs, the more expensive it will be for additional work.
Do your prices include VAT?
Yes, all prices displayed on our website include VAT where applicable. MOTs do not attract VAT, but services do. We will never quote 'ex-VAT' prices - we know how annoying that can be!
If I don’t get charged a commission fee who does?
The Motorists Organisation charges the garage a small marketing fee for introducing you to the garage that you select. This fee is fully transparent and disclosed to all garages. No garage is favoured over another. They are all asked the same questions so you can make an informed choice.
